According to New York Magazine, several bookstores in the states are already planning on purchasing the Espresso book machine when it becomes available in the fall. It currently costs around $75,000, which is both more and less than other people have reported.
As I've explained in a few other posts, we here at Gredunza are really excited about the prospects of this machine, because it signals a much more level playing field in the book industry. Much in the way the internet has allowed people to publish their own books at a far lower price point than before (self-publishing before the internet would often cost ten grand or more), the Espresso book machine allows anyone to print out any book ever digitized in about 5 minutes. This levels the print field in the same way as the net leveled out the digital field.
